On March 8, in celebration of International Women's Day, my Courage to Change guided journal turns four years old.
When I created it, I wasn’t trying to write another book about change.
I wanted to create a tool for practicing it.
Because insight is powerful. But integration is transformational.
If you’re someone who loves personal growth books but sometimes finds yourself inspired… and then stuck, this guide is for you.
Below are five powerful books that pair beautifully with the Courage to Change journal, especially if your focus this month is Gentle Momentum.

1. Habit Change & Consistency
Atomic Habits by James Clear
This book teaches the science of behavior change. But knowledge about habits is not the same as building them.
Why it pairs well with Courage to Change:
Your daily focus page reinforces one intentional habit at a time
The “win for the day” builds identity-based confidence
Weekly reflections track consistency without shame
This pairing is for you if you want to stop starting over.
2. Self-Sabotage & Emotional Patterns
The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest
This book dives deep into the internal blocks that hold us back. Awareness is powerful. But it can also lead to overthinking.
Why it pairs well with Courage to Change:
You choose one aligned action daily instead of spiraling
Affirmations rewire limiting narratives
Evening reflections build self-trust through small wins
This pairing is for you if you’re ready to move from insight to implementation.
3. Focus & Simplifying
Essentialism by Greg McKeown
Essentialism teaches us to do less, but better. Courage to Change helps you practice that daily.
Why it pairs well with Courage to Change:
One focus per day keeps overwhelm at bay
Weekly and monthly check-ins refine priorities
It turns clarity into follow-through
This pairing is for you if you feel stretched too thin.
4. Creative Courage
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Big Magic gives you permission to create without fear. Courage to Change gives you structure to show up anyway.
Why it pairs well with Courage to Change:
Daily goals turn creative ideas into action
Gratitude grounds comparison
Wind-down reflections prevent burnout
This pairing is for you if you’re sitting on something you want to create.
5. Identity & Self-Trust
Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Untamed asks a brave question: What do you actually want? Courage to Change asks it gently, every single day.
Why it pairs well:
Daily focus connects you to desire
Small actions build self-trust
Weekly reviews show proof of growth
This pairing is for you if you’re rediscovering yourself.
How to Choose Your Pairing
Ask yourself:
• Do I need structure?
• Do I need clarity?
• Do I need courage?
• Do I need consistency?
• Do I need self-trust?
Reading expands you.
Practice anchors you.
If you’re ready to move from inspiration to gentle momentum, the Courage to Change journal is here to walk beside you.
