Finding Momentum After the Great Slow + A Sneak Peek at What’s Next

It’s been a minute since I’ve dropped into your inbox, and I have to say—I’ve missed this. How are you? No, really. How are you? Life has this way of moving fast, slowing down, and sometimes bringing us to a complete stop when we least expect it. And I’ve been living in that full stop for the past few months.
A long and frustrating stretch of illness forced me to step back, rest, and let go of the momentum I had been so eager to keep up. At first, it felt like a battle. But eventually, I started to see it for what it was—an invitation to pause, recalibrate, and tend to the parts of me I had been neglecting.
During this time, I found solace in two incredible books: Wintering by Katherine May and How to Winter by Kari Leibowitz. Both offered me the permission I didn’t know I needed—to honor the slow season rather than resist it. And in doing so, I rediscovered simple joys I had forgotten: warm, nourishing meals made with love, afternoon naps without guilt, and quiet creative moments that fed my soul in a way nothing else could.
But this pause also gave me a much-needed wake-up call about my health. I joked with my doctor that I had seen him more in the past three months than in the last three years—funny, but also telling. There comes a point when we have to take charge, ask the right questions, and make the choices that support a life of good health, not just survival.

Now, as I start to regain my strength and momentum, I’m doing it with more intention. I’m not rushing back to where I was, but rather stepping forward into a version of myself that is more in tune, more present, and more aware of what truly matters.
If you’ve been in your own season of slow, I see you. It’s not easy. But I also know that there’s something valuable in the stillness—lessons, clarity, and a deeper understanding of what you need. Wherever you are, I hope you’re giving yourself the grace to be there fully.
And because life is full of surprises (even in the slow seasons), next time I pop into your inbox, I’ll be sharing a little about my recent bucket-list trip to Honolulu—yes, even in the midst of all this, I went! And let me tell you, it impacted my health in ways I never expected.
So stay tuned for that. Until then, take care of you. And if you feel like sharing, hit reply and let me know—how are you finding your footing these days?
xo, Jess
